In 1991 Debra Mickel became fascinated with making jewelry. Since that humble beginning she has refined her craft and developed her own preferences. Her preferred metal is gold and specifically rose gold. She loves the way it brings out highlights in many different precious stones and gems, how its subtle color looks in a variety of lights and like all gold the fact that it is extremely tarnish resistant. It is easy to clean and easy to polish. Due to the high cost of gold, most of her work today is using gold filled. It has the same advantages of pure gold but with a significantly lower cost. For most wearers it will last a lifetime. She avoids most silver due to the high PH of her skin that causes the silver to tarnish even as she makes it and turns her hands black.
Phil Mickel loves silver and all of his work is in that medium. While he is relatively new to jewelry he has studied diligently under Debra and is proud to present his work to others. Phil’s favorite work is Chain Maille and his products can be found on the site as well. Currently all of his offerings are in Sterling Silver but he is studying Argentinium as an alternative and may offer this metal in the future.
